The must have fabric of the season: Velvet

Textures fabrics are always in every season, for the endless possibilities they create for designers. As designers we are no different, there is nothing better than getting new season fabrics and making new creations.

One fabric that has made its way back into our lives this A/W season is velvet. Velvet as everyone is aware by now isn’t a new trend. Yet for A/W16 it was seen all over the catwalk from Stella McCartney showcasing the fabric in oversized puffa jackets to Valentino using layering for his velvet suit and even colourful velvet accessories from Fendi.

Velvet was given a new lease of life this fall with the addition of colour. As we have seen our favourite designers use it we have put together our favourite velvet high-street picks.

Velvet Blazer - Mango

This chic midnight blue number is the perfect way to introduce some statement velvet into your wardrobe.

Velvet Bodysuit - Zara

This dusty pink bodysuit lets you get the best of two trends with this lovely draping bodysuit. Which can be dressed up or down.

Silk Blend Slip dress - H&M

A simplistic piece that is great for layering for those colder days. The slip dress is a great nod to the grungy 90's trend too that has been relevant this season.

Velvet pleated trousers - Topshop

Pleats and velvet offer the ultimate textured statement. In a berry colour make them perfect for autumn.

Grey Ankle Boots - Asos

Wanting to ease you way into this trend, then these are perfect for a subtle take on the trend.
